I call these flowers Mexican Sunflowers.

Ahhhh, fall sounds are here: katydids, the smell of fall, and the feel of fall. I grow these flowers for in the fall with zinnias. Gorgeous colors for this season.

Have a wonderful day, folks.

Read: Proverbs 30:7-9.

Cleome Garden Takeover

These beautiful Cleome flowers in different shades of pink were taken from my kitchen window yesterday morning. Cleome seeds on its own in the fall. Its stems are picky. In humus soil, Cleome grows taller than in other soil.

Have a wonderful day, folks. It's Friday!!

Don't forget to thank Jesus.

Apple Cobbler with Almond Meal

My favorite daughter-in-law gave me a package of almond meal. Since I am allergic to gluten, this is an excellent substitute for flour.

I modified a recipe from Mark Bittman (markbittman.com) for his blueberry cobbler. You can use any fruit. For this tryout, I used cooked apples that I had frozen for a couple months. I increased the almond meal to one cup, not 1/2 cup as stated in Mr. Bittman's recipe for flour. On the next tryout, I recommend to increase the almond meal to 1 1/2 cups. When it was all done, this recipe is very tasty!!!! I am looking forward to the next tryout with fresh fruit.

I thank my favorite daughter-in-law for directing me to Mark Bittman's website. His blog is very interesting.

Have a wonderful day, folks.

Michigan Thumb Tour

Yesterday, we toured the thumb with my son, favorite daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.

We started from Lapeer, driving up on M24 through Caro, Caseville, Port Austin, and Lexington. The Michigan parks are awesome! Lexington has its arts festival, which is really nice. I love to explore the gifts of the artists. God gives us gifts, ya know. We then finished our tour by having dinner in Port Huron at a Chinese restaurant. The food was fresh and hot!! Love it!!

Thank you, Jesus, for a wonderful day with family.

Have a wonderful day, folks. Don't forget to give thanks to Jesus.

Garden Work

Oh, my gosh! We worked in the garden this evening pulling weeds, grass, dead foliage of flowers and so on. It felt good to see a well maintained flower garden again.

Have a wonderful day, folks.
