Picking Garden Vegetables

My son and granddaughter stopped over this morning. It was so much fun to have a cup a coffee and apple cobbler while visiting. We chatted and played rummy for awhile; then we picked tomatoes, green peppers, herbs, summer squash, butter lettuce, bok choy, cucumbers, and parsley.

Thank you, Jesus, for this wonderful day!

Have a wonderful day, folks.

The Pioneer Woman-3rd Episode on The Food Network

This morning I was home, and I was able to watch The Pioneer Woman on Food Network. The other two episodes I missed.

Ree Drummond is a natural in front of the camera and a natural cook. My 11:30 time slot was a pleasure!

Have a wonderful day, folks.

Rainy Day Thursday

Cold rainy day for a fall day, not officially fall, I am looking forward to the crisp fall day with sunshine and the leaves turning their burnt orange colors. I am looking forward to working in the yard on a crisp fall day with sunshine and the leaves turning their burnt orange colors.. I am looking forward to dividing or thinning out the flower plants to the crisp fall day with sunshine and the leaves turning their burnt orange colors.

Have a wonderful day, folks.

Spaghetti Sauce with Fresh Tomatoes

Good evening, folks.

We picked tomatoes this evening, cleaned the tomatoes, cut the tomatoes, and placed them in a stock pot to cook. My husband added, garlic, thyme, basil, hot peppers, and green peppers. This is a wonderful recipe for spaghetti sauce or just plain tomato sauce. After a couple hours of cooking and a cool down, we will place the sauce in quart size freezer bags to freeze.

Have a wonderful evening.

Quinoa for Gluten Free Grain

My favorite daughter-in-law was telling me about this whole grain Quinoa, which is gluten free. I have many food allergies and gluten is one of them. She told me this grain was in Big Lots. For a few weeks in our Big Lots, the grain was sold out. My husband and I found it yesterday and decided to give it a try.

The grain is quite grainy, round grains. I brought it to boil, 1 cup in 2 cups of water and let it simmer for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes I fluffed it with a fork and let it stand with a cover for 15 minutes.

The fork holding the grain is what it looks like after 15 minutes.

I am waiting for my husband to return from the flea market to try it for breakfast. Maybe with a little cinnamon it will taste fine. The aroma is different, too.

Have a wonderful day, folks.

Arts and crafts are back.

I am so happy to read and to see that the arts and crafts are returning. East Lansing and Lexington, Michigan had wonderful arts and crafts shows this year.

Crafts is expanding the article said. It sited Etsy.com, which reported for 2010 sales of more than $400 million.

Have a wonderful evening, folks.
